Born Bright Okpocha on the 14th of September, 1978 is a comedian, actor and singer who hails from Abia State, a South-eastern region in Nigeria.
Basketmouth was born and brought up in Lagos State, where he lived most of his life.
He is a graduate of Sociology from the prestigious University of Benin.
Basketmouth started off as a rap artiste after discovering his skill in drumming in 1991, he formed a band known as Da Psychopaths in 1995. The band performed at events and gatherings but released no song till they broke up. Day Oddz was later formed by him, a band of three consisting of him his brother and one other as a member.
Basketmouth started comedy officially in 2000, he is well known for his brilliant jokes, performances, and the popular stand-up shows he organizes globally.
Basketmouth won the National Comedy Award and the awards for Best Stand-up Comedian of the year in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
Basketmouth went back to music in 2014, starting his record label “Barons World Entertainment”. He released his first album which served as a soundtrack titled ” Yabasi” for his web series.
Basketmouth is the producer of “Ghana Jollof”, he has appeared in the Africa Magic series “My Flatmates”, in December 2020 his Web series “Papa Benji” was launched.
