At the 2023 Headies Awards, Asake has been named the Album of the Year category winner.
Asake, commonly referred to by his followers as “Mr Money,” emerged over other deserving artists, like Davido, Rema, Burna Boy, and Omah Lay.
Among the performers that have previously received the honour are Fireboy, Falz, Simi, and Kizz Daniel.
Asake, who was also named the Next Rated category winner, was signed to Olamide’s record label YBNL on February 8, 2022.
He first gained popularity in 2020 when his freestyle “Lady” went viral and received a lot of support from well-known internet influencers like Broda Shaggi, Sydney Talker, NastyBlaq, and others.
The Headies is a music awards event created in 2006 by the Nigerian Hip Hop World Magazine to honour great accomplishments in the country’s music sector.
Established and up-and-coming performers perform during the yearly celebration, and HipTV streams it live for viewers all around Nigeria.
In addition to Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Rookie of the Year, there are more than 20 categories this year.
