A dish originating from the North African country, Algeria, has been voted as the best food in Africa with a rating of 5.0 by a food blog, TasteAtlas.
The dish, Rechta is made from thin noodles and spiced with chicken sauce. This dish can also be garnished with bits of cucumber or slices of boiled eggs, among other ingredients.
The food list also contains other foods from different African countries, with Nigeria’s popular food, Jollof Rice coming ninth in the food ranking.
This food list was disputed by Africans who argued that the list is made up mainly of dishes from North African countries and very little recognition for dishes other countries hold in high repute.
South Africans argued that the foods on the list are among the least popular foods in the mixed colour country, while Nigerians pushed forward popular local dishes, including Dortmund forward, Karim Adeyemi’s favourite food, Fufu.
