The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the de@th of a little girl, identified as Omole Taiwo, after ASP Omotayo Olajide allegedly discharged his firearm during a clash between two rival groups in the Nosamu area of Ajegunle, Lagos State.
According to a statement released on Saturday, November 7, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 5, between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., following a distress call over a violent clash between the Nosamu Boys and Alayabiagba Boys over toll collection.
The police said the groups were reportedly armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons when officers were deployed to the scene. During the operation, the officer discharged his firearm, and the bullet struck two young girls.
Both children were rushed to Ajeromi General Hospital, while one was later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where she died. The other girl is receiving medical attention and is reportedly in stable condition.
