American comedian and actor Chris Rock has opened up about his past pornography addiction, admitting that the habit contributed to his failure as a husband during his 20-year marriage to his ex-wife, Malaak Compton-Rock.
Rock made the revelation in a GQ interview published on Tuesday, November 3, where he reflected on his personal struggles, 2016 divorce and the journey towards rebuilding his life.
Speaking about the 12-year gap between directing his films Top Five and Misty Green, the comedian explained that his divorce, financial challenges and efforts to get his life back on track contributed to the lengthy break.
“I got divorced. Nobody has a successful divorce, so that takes time,” he said, adding that he had to rebuild his finances through stand-up comedy tours.
Reflecting on his marriage, Rock admitted, “I was not a great husband,” partly because he “watched a lot of porn.”
