Businessman and social media influencer, Afolabi Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, has asked Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos to recuse himself from his ongoing trial over alleged 184.5kg cocaine trafficking and money laundering.
At the resumed hearing on Monday, November 2, 2026, KC Luxury’s lawyer, Emefo Etudo, told the court that the record of proceedings did not reflect the ruling delivered on October 28, when the court rejected his client’s bail application on medical grounds.
The lawyer alleged that repeated efforts to obtain a copy of the ruling from the court registry had been unsuccessful. He added that the defence was informed that the judge had yet to sign the ruling, raising concerns that the delay could affect his client’s right to appeal.
KC Luxury was absent from court, with his counsel indicating that he was still receiving treatment for a serious medical condition.
Meanwhile, lawyers representing the second and third defendants urged the court to separate the charges against their clients from those involving KC Luxury, arguing that his continued absence was delaying their trial.
The prosecution counsel, Abu Ibrahim, said the NDLEA would respond to the application and maintained that the court had been fair to all parties.
The court subsequently vacated the hearing dates earlier scheduled for the week and adjourned the matter until November 25, 2026, for the defence to argue the application seeking the judge’s recusal.
KC Luxury is standing trial alongside two other defendants on a 22-count charge bordering on alleged cocaine trafficking, unlawful exportation of narcotics and money laundering. The defendants have pleaded not guilty.
