The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested Ugwumba Francis Enyinnaya for allegedly impersonating a lawyer and practising for over 11 years without being qualified.
According to the Police, the arrest followed a petition alleging that he collected ₦650,000 from Mr Chukwu David in March 2026, promising to facilitate the approval for the naming of a street in Ohaozara LGA.
The Police said the suspect admitted he was not a lawyer. Items recovered from his apartment reportedly included an NBA seal, a barrister’s wig and gown, purported LL.B. and LL.M. certificates from ESUT, and allegedly forged court judgments and documents from Ebonyi and Enugu states.
He was also alleged to have served as a legal adviser to Ohaozara LGA during his years of impersonation.
The Police confirmed that he had been charged to court and urged the public to verify the credentials of individuals offering legal services.
