Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, has dismissed claims that the Federal Government’s one-month fuel discount initiative was introduced to influence Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during an interview with Seun on channels tv, Oyedele questioned the logic behind linking the temporary price relief to electoral ambitions, arguing that the duration of the discount does not support such allegations.
“Election is in January, Seun. This discount is for one month. Are we that dumb that we give you a discount for one month so that you can vote for us in January? How does it even add up?” he asked.
He urged politicians to respect Nigerians’ intelligence, insisting that citizens are capable of understanding government policies and assessing the arguments surrounding them.
