Troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Dayi–Malumfashi road in Katsina State.
The rescue operation was conducted at about 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2026, when the security forces intercepted a green-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3, with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY, conveying the victims.
The rescued persons comprised six females, reportedly students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, and the vehicle’s driver, identified as Sani Umar.
The victims were rescued during ongoing security operations along the route, while efforts continue to ensure their safety and establish the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Military sources said the troops remain on high alert and have maintained strong operational readiness across the area.
