NDLEA intercepts UK-bound Colos shipments, uncovers opioids hidden in bread, speakers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted multiple consignments of illicit drugs, including synthetic cannabis known as Colorado or “Colos,” shipped from the United Kingdom, while uncovering other narcotics concealed in music speakers, loaves of bread and vehicles across several states.

The operations, conducted across Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Kaduna, Plateau, Bayelsa and Kano, resulted in the seizure of more than 2.3 tonnes of assorted illicit drugs, alongside several arrests.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, NDLEA operatives intercepted 27 parcels of Colos weighing 32.20kg concealed in a consolidated cargo from the UK.

A real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, was arrested on Sept. 9 after allegedly arriving to collect the consignment using a secret collection code reportedly sent by his UK-based brother.

A follow-up operation linked to another UK shipment led to the arrest of 44-year-old Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, after operatives intercepted 12.25kg of Colos allegedly sent to him by his brother in the UK.
