“Adjust minimum wage to ₦300,000 and maximum wage to ₦1.5m for Level 17 officers” — Federal workers urge Tinubu

The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) has formally urged President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to adjust the national minimum wage to ₦300,000 and set a maximum cap of ₦1.5 million monthly for Grade Level 17 officers.

Details of the DemandThe Proposal:

In a letter signed by national leaders Andrew Emelieze and Ogundele Ayodele, the group asked for a progressive salary structure starting at ₦300,000 for entry-level workers (Level 1, Step 1) and scaling up to ₦1.5 million for top-tier Level 17 civil servants.

Justification: The Federal Workers Forum stated that soaring inflation, high costs of living, and skyrocketing fuel and transport prices have made the existing ₦70,000 minimum wage completely unsustainable.

Incomplete Implementation Claims: The union accused the government of failing to fully implement the previous 2024 minimum wage agreement, claiming that workers have not received full consequential adjustments, promotion arrears, or promised peculiar allowances.
