A 25-year-old former Goldman Sachs financial analyst, Darren Zhou of Florida, has pleaded guilty to aggravated stalking, written threats to k+ll and illegal cellphone use after OpenAI flagged his ChatGPT conversations and alerted the FBI.
According to The Detroit News, Zhou repeatedly told ChatGPT he planned to k+ll his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend, writing: “I’m gonna k+ll her by the end of this month. If I can’t have her, then nobody can.”
Court records showed he detailed plans to amb¥sh her at a gym, tracked her routines and locations, and described plans to sho%t her, her family and responding police officers. He also claimed to have purchased an AR-15-style r+fle, Glock handg¥n and shotg¥n, although his lawyer later said he did not actually possess firearms.
Zhou also reportedly harassed his ex-girlfriend through multiple app-generated phone numbers with threatening and s+xual messages.
