Troops of Sector 1, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have rescued three kidnapped victims following a response to a reported abduction incident along the Ogobia–Otukpo axis of Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The operation was conducted at about 8 a.m. on August 14, 2026, by troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Otukpo in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police.
According to military sources, the troops responded to a report of kidnapping activities in the area and subsequently discovered a bus abandoned by the attackers with no passengers inside.
The troops immediately mobilised and pursued the fleeing kidnappers.
During the operation, the suspects abandoned three kidnapped victims, who were subsequently rescued by the troops.
The driver of the vehicle was also found to have sustained a gunshot wound during the incident.
