Troops of the 177 Guards Battalion, in a joint operation with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested 14 suspected drug peddlers and recovered various illicit substances during raids on suspected drug hideouts in the Federal Capital Territory.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 11:00 a.m. on July 11 by troops deployed at the Masaka Patrol Base in collaboration with NDLEA operatives.

According to the sources, the joint team raided suspected drug dens in the Gwandara and Dabar Uke areas of the FCT, leading to the arrest of 14 suspects.

Items recovered during the operation included about 13 kilograms of cannabis sativa, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, Colorado, Rohypnol and Exol.

The suspects and the recovered exhibits were subsequently handed over to the NDLEA Karu Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the circulation of illicit substances within the Federal Capital Territory.
