If anybody should be in jail, it is us politicians for what we have done to this country — NDC presidential candidate, Peter obi

At a summit held at The Summit Church with young entrepreneurs, Peter Obi shared reflections on his business experience, leadership, and institutional realities.

He described what he referred to as unusual cases involving academics and senior officials entangled in legal troubles, saying:

“In university of Southern California, the past few days with them, we have the entire faculty and people who have studied in jail… all the professors. You’ll be shocked what they’ve been able to do.”

He noted the scale of the situation, mentioning senior academic figures:

“I saw the dean of faculty say I he did 28 years. I saw the registrar… everybody, they’ve done years. And it was amazing that they are professors.”

Reflecting on justice and perception, he added: “When you hear what is happening, you realize that many people think that once you go to jail, most of them are even people who are not supposed to be there in the first place.”

He then drew a broader moral reflection directed at political leadership especially in Nigeria; “If anybody should be in jail, it is us politicians for what we have done to this country.”
