Police Arrest Two Suspected Cattle Rustlers in Plateau

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers following a coordinated operation in Dyis community of Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended on Saturday with the support of local youths and Fulani community representatives after intelligence reports linked them to cattle rustling activities in the area.

According to the sources, the operation led to the foiling of a suspected cattle rustling ring believed to be operating within communities in Pankshin and adjoining local government areas.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects is from Kerang community in Mangu Local Government Area, while the second suspect is from neighbouring Bokkos Local Government Area.

The sources said the suspects were intercepted following credible information and community collaboration that enabled security operatives to track their movements.

“The arrests were made through joint efforts involving police personnel, local youths and Fulani stakeholders who provided useful information that aided the operation,” a source said.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators in uncovering other members of the alleged cattle rustling network.
