Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Economic Affairs, Tope Fasua, has claimed that Nigeria is now safer from phone snatching than the United Kingdom despite growing concerns over insecurity and economic hardship in the country.
Fasua made the statement during a members-only Coffee Hangout organised in Abuja, while responding to complaints from participants about rising transportation costs, insecurity and increasing cases of phone th+ft.
According to him, phone snatching is not peculiar to Nigeria, as similar incidents also happen abroad.
“In the streets of London, go to UK, you see phone snatching,” Fasua said, adding that a visitor from Cameroon also told him people could hardly use their phones freely in public there.
The presidential aide further insisted that, “Nigerians have moved ahead from all these phone snatching. It is not a major crisis in Nigeria.”
