The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, has dismissed allegations suggesting any religious agenda in Nigeria, insisting that Muslims are not planning to target or eliminate Christians in the country.
He made the remarks at the first triannual meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) in Abuja, where religious leaders and government officials called for stronger dialogue, trust, and mutual understanding among faith groups.
The Sultan said many vi%lent incidents often labelled as religious are being misinterpreted, which he warned only deepens suspicion and division.
