The Federal government declares Friday, May 1 public holiday

The federal government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended congratulations to workers across the country in recognition of their contributions to national development.

In a statement issued by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the government commended Nigerian workers for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to driving economic growth and prosperity.
