Former Senator representing Kaduna Central and APC chieftain, Shehu Sani, has described the growing support for former presidential candidate Peter Obi as being driven by “tribal sentiments” while insisting that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election.
Sani made the remarks during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he spoke alongside human rights activist Deji Adeyanju on Nigeria’s political situation and leadership direction.
According to him, the enthusiasm around Peter Obi does not represent real political change. He said: “The support for Peter Obi is tribal”, many of those supporting him and those who come from his ethnic background. If Obi becomes the President of Nigeria today, nothing changes, everything remains the same.”
He further argued that Nigeria’s major political figures are not ideologically different, claiming they share similar political thinking. In his words: “Obi, Obasanjo, Atiku, and Tinubu are people who come from the same ideological perspective. They are people who share the same political thinking.”
Sani also predicted the outcome of the next general election, insisting that President Tinubu will retain power in 2027. He added that Nigerians are essentially choosing between similar political options, describing it as “the choice between Satan and the devil.”
