Twelve Nigerian nationals were arrested in Ghana for suspected involvement in organized cybercrime and human tr@fficking. The operation was a joint effort by the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, the CID Surveillance Unit, and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
The raid took place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, led by DSP Malaika Jibril Alhassan and Superintendent Francis Baidoo. During the operation, officers recovered twenty-five laptops and seven mobile phones used for cybercrime.
The suspects attempted to resist by releasing German Shepherd dogs, but reinforcements ensured the operation succeeded.
Investigations show the suspects engaged in internet fr@ud, identity th+ft, email and phishing sc@ms, mobile money fr@ud, cyber extortion, credit card and ATM fr@ud, and electronic forgery.
These crimes vi%late Ghanaian laws including the Cybersecurity Act 2020, Electronic Transactions Act 2008, Criminal Offences Act 1960, Data Protection Act 2012, and GIS Regulations.
