Bandits abduct two police officers in Zamfara

Two police officers were abducted by armed bandits during an attack on Farin Ruwa village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Jan. 4 at about 8:00 p.m. along the Farin Ruwa–Wasagu road, when a group of unknown gunmen stormed the community via Dansadau district.

According to the sources, joint forces including troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police personnel, Civilian Protection Group members and local vigilantes, mobilized to rescue residents but were ambushed by the bandits.

During the attack, an ASP and Inspector, attached to DOPS, were abducted along with their serviceable rifles. Their current whereabouts remain unknown.

The sources added that an anti-kidnapping team had been deployed to the area and efforts to trace and rescue the officers were ongoing.
