Armed men attack Community, burn police station in Ipele, Ondo

Armed men riding motorcycles on Tuesday night attacked a police station in Ipele, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, using explosives to damage the facility before fleeing the scene.

The attack occurred at about 9:45 p.m., on 31 December.

According to residents, the assailants stormed the police station and detonated explosive devices, causing significant damage to parts of the building.

They reportedly escaped before the arrival of security reinforcements.

Although details on casualties were still sketchy as at press time, residents said there was panic in the community following the attack.

Police authorities were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

However, security operatives were seen cordoning off the area on Thursday morning, while preliminary assessments of the damage were ongoing.
