Niger State NSCDC Commandant Suspended After 37 Illegal Miners D+e In Custody

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has ordered the immediate suspension of Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, the commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State, following the de@ths of 37 alleged illegal miners detained in the corps’ custody.

A statement issued on Friday by Alao Babatunde, the spokesperson for the minister, said the suspension followed the de@ths of the alleged illegal miners in the Wushishi-Lukoto axis of Minna.

According to the statement, the incident occurred after the suspected illegal miners were arrested during enforcement operations conducted in parts of the state between Tuesday and Wednesday.
