Bean, 42, d+ad amid a romantic dispute involving a woman both officers had been linked to. Bean, who had served with the sheriff’s office for nearly 20 years, was allegedly sh%t on March 27 outside the woman’s home in Hope Mills, North Carolina.
According to search warrants, the woman previously dated Oxendine before entering a long-term relationship with Bean. Text messages reportedly showed Oxendine repeatedly questioning her relationship with Bean and accusing her of having an affair with him.
The woman later lived with Bean until December 2025 but reportedly reconciled with Oxendine in February and March 2026. Their messages allegedly showed Oxendine continuing to question her commitment, including asking if Bean was more attractive and accusing him of still having “the key” to her heart.
