Be Prudent In Your Spending, DG Urges Corps Members

Corps Members have been advised to avoid impulse buying, imbibe financial literacy and be prudent in their spendings.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu gave this charge while addressing the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two Corps Members at Abia and Imo State Orientation Camps.

He also advised them to moderate their expectations, cut expenses and imbibe savings culture.

General Nafiu admonished the Corps Members to learn new skills through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, in order complement their certificates with skills.

He urged them to strive towards entrepreneurship and thereby create jobs for others, as this would make them financially independent.

General Nafiu encouraged the Corps Members to make friends among themselves and establish business contacts that would last for lifetime.

He warned them against unauthorized journeys, and added that they should obtain permission from NYSC, if it became compulsory for them to travel but avoid night trips.

The NYSC Abia State Coordinator, Mr Yunusa Tanimu, while presenting his camp situation report informed the Director General that a total of 1,731 Corps Members comprising 750 males and 981 females were registered.

He added that they are disciplined and have adapted to the regimented camp environment since their arrival.

He also said all camp activities have been going on smoothly with the active involvement of all Corps Members and officials.

The Coordinator lauded the Abia State Government for its support for NYSC in the State.
