Troops arrest suspected terrorist spy linked to earlier ISWAP suspect in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected terrorist spy linked to an earlier arrested ISWAP suspect during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest was made at about 1:30 p.m. on July 20 by troops of the 19 Brigade following actionable intelligence obtained from Muhammad Mustapha, a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP member arrested by troops of the 403 Amphibious Brigade in Baga on July 17.

According to the sources, the newly arrested suspect, identified as Sheriff Modu, was tracked and apprehended after investigations revealed his alleged links to Muhammad Mustapha.

The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation by operatives of the 19 Military Intelligence Regiment (19 MIR) at Cross Kauwa as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist intelligence and support networks operating in the Lake Chad region.
