Troops, Local Hunters Clear Terrorist Hideouts After Miringa Attack in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have conducted a major clearance operation across several suspected terrorist hideouts in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State following the recent Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on Miringa community.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was launched in the early hours of July 10 by troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion in response to the terrorist incursion into Miringa.

The sources disclosed that the troops, organised into four combat teams of about 40 soldiers each, operated alongside 25 local hunters drawn from Buratai and Kurnari communities, leveraging both military firepower and local knowledge of the terrain.

The combined force, supported by an EQ-series tactical vehicle, three gun trucks and 15 motorcycles, advanced into the Mangari, Bulazarma and Dora axis—areas believed to have served as movement corridors and temporary staging grounds for fleeing terrorists after the attack.

According to the sources, the troops systematically projected force across the affected communities, conducting extensive cordon-and-search operations aimed at locating fleeing insurgents as well as recovering any hidden arms, ammunition or other terrorist logistics.

Although no direct contact was established with the terrorists during the operation, troops identified and destroyed several makeshift shelters believed to have been used by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters as temporary hideouts and assembly points.
