One Killed, Nine Injured as Vehicle Hits Suspected IED in Borno

One person was killed and nine others injured after a trailer conveying passengers struck a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) along the Komala village axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Police sources said the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on July 2 when the trailer, driven by Isa Uba, was travelling from Maiduguri to Damboa.

The sources said the explosive device was suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists along the route.

According to the sources, a passenger, Zannah Mulima, 26, from Ajari Ward in Damboa, died at the scene, while nine other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries.
