US Pulls Military Forces Out Of Joint Counter-terr%rism Operation in Nigeria

The United States has withdrawn the military personnel it deployed for a joint countert£rrorism operation in Nigeria, but says it will continue sharing intelligence and supporting the country’s security efforts against the Islamic State (ISIS/Daesh).

The Commander of US Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa, General Dagvin R.M. Anderson, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing on the outcome of the African Chiefs of Defence Conference 2026.

According to Anderson, the operation in Nigeria’s Lake Chad Basin significantly disrupted ISIS activities, benefiting not only countries in the region but also global security.
