Captain Alphonso Davies made his tournament debut after missing the entire group stage with a hamstring injury and immediately provided a boost as Jesse Marsch’s side survived to keep its title hopes alive.
Canada advances to face the winner of Monday’s Round of 32 match between Morocco and the Netherlands on July 4 in Houston.
