Court Sentences Two K+dn@ppers to D+ath Over Abd¥ction of NYSC Staff Member in EKITI

Two men arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) have been sentenced to d+ath by an Ekiti State High Court after being found guilty of k+dn@pping a staff member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The convicts, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar, were sentenced to d+ath by hanging, while a third defendant, Usman Abubakar, was discharged and acquitted after the court ruled that there was insufficient evidence linking him to the offence.

The case stemmed from the abduction of Omoboade Adesina, a female NYSC staff member, on April 22, 2022, in Ekiti State. Following investigations by the DSS, the suspects were arrested and prosecuted.

Delivering judgment, the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, convicted Ibrahim and Abdullahi Abubakar and imposed the d+ath penalty. He commended the DSS prosecution team for successfully proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.
