Troops Arrest Suspected ISWAP Informant in Adamawa

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected informant linked to insurgent groups during a patrol operation in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Military sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 4:00 p.m. on June 6 by troops of the 144 Battalion (Main) while conducting a market patrol in Madagali town.

According to the sources, the arrest followed ongoing intelligence and surveillance activities aimed at identifying individuals suspected of providing information and logistical support to insurgent elements operating within the region.

The suspect is believed to have maintained links with members of insurgent groups active in parts of the North-East.

The sources said the suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further investigation to establish the extent of his involvement and any possible connections to insurgent activities.

The arrest forms part of sustained counter-insurgency efforts by security forces to disrupt intelligence networks and deny insurgents local support structures in affected communities.
