Two Hunters Killed in Suspected Terror Attack in Oyo Community

Two local hunters have been killed following an attack by suspected terrorists in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on May 17, 2026, around the Abaja area of the council.

According to the sources, troops of the Nigerian Army 2 Division Garrison, alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, hunters and vigilantes, responded to reports of the attack shortly after it occurred.

On arrival at the scene, security operatives recovered the bodies of two hunters reportedly killed during the assault.

The joint security team subsequently dominated the community and surrounding areas to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.

Authorities said monitoring and security operations were continuing in the area.
