A 24-year-old Nigerian migrant, Gift Oladele, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison by a UK court after being found guilty of a vi%lent s+xual a+sault on a young woman in Wrexham, Wales.
The Mold Crown Court heard that the incident occurred in September 2025 when Oladele approached the victim outside a takeaway in Wrexham city centre, behaving in a friendly and flirtatious manner. He later offered to escort her home, but instead led her to a secluded woodland area where he att@cked her.
Prosecutors told the court that he overpowered the victim, covered her mouth, and a+saulted her. During the ordeal, she was left terrified and unable to escape. The court also heard that he thr+atened to track her down and harm her if she reported the incident, and warned he would share images of her online.
Despite the thr+ats, the victim managed to return home and immediately informed her family, who contacted the police. Oladele was arrested the following day after attempting to conceal a mobile phone that contained search histories linked to vi%lent a+saults.
Investigations revealed he had a prior history of vi%lent offences and was on bail for another allegation at the time of the att@ck. He had also previously served a prison sentence for a similar cr+me in 2022. Authorities further noted he had successfully resisted deportation to Nigeria after a human rights appeal.
The judge, Simon Mills, described the offence as “truly depraved” and labelled Oladele a d@ngerous individual who posed a significant risk to women. He was also critical of the defendant’s repeated involvement in vi%lent behaviour.
In her victim impact statement, the survivor said she continues to experience severe tra¥ma, fear, and emotional distress, stating that she no longer feels safe going out alone.
