17-yr-old student abd¥cted and k+lled by his former schoolmate and friends after UTME in Lagos

A 17-year-old student, Thompson Adams Omokafe, has been allegedly abd¥cted and k+lled in Lagos State by a former schoolmate and his associates shortly after he sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, preliminary investigations suggest that Thompson was lured to an apartment by suspects identified as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ogenata, 21, where he was k+lled.

However, the victim’s family gave a different account of events, insisting that he was abd¥cted, m¥rdered, and his body dumped in a canal in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki, before the suspects fled.

The family said Thompson left home on April 22 to visit Elijah Emmanuel, a former schoolmate he had known and frequently visited. He was later declared missing after he failed to return home, and repeated attempts to reach him failed as his phone was switched off.

His sister, Lovett, later reported the case at a police station. While she was there, the family said they received a message from Thompson’s phone claiming he had been kidn@pped and instructing them to download an app. Shortly after, the suspects allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦150 million.

The family further stated that police operatives tracked the suspects, leading to their arrest in Ikorodu.

According to them, the suspects confessed to monitoring Thompson for some time, believing his family was wealthy, and admitted to tying him up, filming him, and k+lling him before making the ransom demand.

The family has called for justice, describing the incident as deeply painful and urging authorities to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Police say investigations are still ongoing.
