JUST IN: Nine Killed as Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Attack Benue Community

At least nine people have been confirmed dead following a fresh attack on Edikwu-Ankpali ward in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.

Armed attackers, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, invaded the community on Sunday evening, leaving several others injured and forcing residents to flee.

The Chairman of Apa LGA, Adams Ogwola, confirmed the killing of nine persons in Edikwu-Ankpali. Additional attacks in nearby Ikobi and Adija communities earlier on Friday also claimed one life each.

Local sources indicate the violence spanned Friday and Sunday, with the death toll in Edikwu-Ankpali alone feared to be higher, as youths continue combing surrounding bushes for missing persons and more bodies.

As of now, the Benue State Police Command has yet to release an official breakdown of casualties.
