Anthony Adewale Sobogun, 61, has been jailed for 28 years after being found guilty of multiple s+x¥al offences against two children.
Sobogun, from Croydon, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service.
The court heard he committed 17 s+x¥al ab¥se offences against two children known to him during the 1990s and early 2000s.
The offences included multiple incidents of s+x¥al intercourse with a girl under 13, as well as the r+pe of a child. One victim revealed Sobogun took her to an abortion clinic after she became pregnant with his child.
Officers later traced medical records confirming the procedure, alongside counselling notes detailing a cycle of ab¥se. He was arrested in the early hours of July 2, 2025.
Detective Constable Charlotte Lockyer, who led the case, said, “The bravery of the victims in coming forward is what brought Sobogun to justice.
It’s as a result of their courage in working with officers that this d@ngerousman has been jailed. Today’s result shows that no matter when the ab¥se occurred, justice can still be secured.”
The victims also issued a statement, saying, “What has come to light is deeply distressing, but sadly, it is not an isolated situation ab¥se like this exists in many communities, often hidden by family, fear, silence, or stigma.
We want to be clear: it is never too late to come forward. If you have experienced ab¥se, your voice matters, and you deserve to be heard, supported, and protected.”
