U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a blistering attack on Pope Leo XIV, escalating tensions between the White House and the Vatican amid disagreements over global conflicts, including Iran.
In a lengthy social media post, Trump wrote:
“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy… He talks about ‘fear’ of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church… had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else for holding Church Services…”
Trump went further, praising the Pope’s brother and criticizing Leo’s stance on global issues:
“I like his brother Louis much better… because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon…”
He also defended his own record, stating he was elected “IN A LANDSLIDE,” while claiming he delivered “Record Low Numbers in Crime” and “the Greatest Stock Market in History.”
