Senior officer dies in road accident on Abuja–Kaduna highway

A senior military officer, Maj. AM Abubakar, has died in a road traffic accident along the Abuja–Kaduna highway.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the accident occurred on March 28 at Azara village near Jere in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, involving a commercial Sharon bus and a BUA Cement truck.

The source disclosed that the officer, who was a student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), was a passenger in the commercial vehicle at the time of the crash.

He added that Maj. Abubakar died on the spot, while other passengers sustained minor injuries.

According to the source, the remains of the deceased officer have been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

The source further stated that the officer’s personal belongings were handed over to his family after they arrived at the hospital.

Authorities are yet to provide further details on the cause of the accident, while investigation into the incident is ongoing.
