Federal Government Declares March 19 and 20 as Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Thursday, 19th March, and Friday, 20th March 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, signaling the end of Ramadan.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm greetings and congratulations to Muslims across the country for completing the holy month.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim faithful to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice learned during Ramadan. He also encouraged all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.

The Minister further called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and show kindness to the less privileged, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence.
