Veteran actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde speaks on movie promotion and dancing trends

Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has weighed in on the growing trend for actors being expected to dance on social media to promote their movies.

In an interview with TVC E Splash, while promoting her new movie, Mother’s Love, she revealed that she wouldn’t be dancing to market or promote her movies. She described such behaviour as unprofessional, noting how she has done a quality movie and needs to promote it.

According to her, the problem isn’t dancing itself, but why it’s being done.

She explained that dancing should come from genuine fun, not because it has become a compulsory tool to sell a movie. Once it turns into a chore or a requirement, she says it loses professionalism.

Omotola stressed that her job is to act and promote the project through interviews and conversations, while marketing and distribution should be handled by professionals whose responsibility it is.

“I already did the project,” she implied, adding that forcing creatives to perform extra stunts just to be seen isn’t how the industry should work.
