Stowaway Trapped For Two Weeks On Ship From Togo To Italy: A Harrowing Escape – Travel

A shocking video shows the moment a young man was discovered hiding aboard a vessel traveling from Lomé, Togo, to Italy, after his cries for help were heard from inside the ship.

The stowaway had hidden inside a tight hole near the anchor area of the vessel. In the video, his head is already out of the hole, but he appears extremely weak and unable to pull the rest of his body free. A man on board can be heard encouraging him to keep trying, saying that since his head was out, his body would eventually follow.

The young man repeatedly pleaded for help, asking for assistance to lift the heavy chain blocking the hole. He was told that the chain could only be removed if the navy was called, and that involving the navy could bring serious trouble for him. When he begged the man to hold him, the man declined, saying he could not physically support him and that he needed to try on his own.

During their conversation, the man asked how long he had been trapped in the hole. The stowaway revealed that he had been there for about two weeks. He also explained that the ship’s anchor had been lowered into the hole two to three times after he had already hidden there, making the space even tighter and trapping him inside. This suggests he entered the hole before the anchor was dropped.
Later, a rope was thrown down to him to hold onto as he attempted to pull himself out of the narrow space.
