Police Arrest Three ‘One-Chance’ Gang Members Linked To Killing Of Abuja Lawyer

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command says its operatives have arrested three suspects linked to the killing of Nwamaka Chigbo, an Abuja-based lawyer.

Chigbo, a former treasurer of the FCT branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), was reportedly found dead by the roadside in Abuja after being attacked around 5:50pm on January 5 by a ‘one chance’ gang, shortly after boarding a black Volkswagen Golf 3 along the Kubwa expressway.

Her death occurred on the same day that Chinemerem Chuwumeziem, a nurse at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, was also found dead, reportedly killed by ‘one chance’ criminals.

After the incidents, the NBA asked Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, to treat the resurgence of “one chance” crimes in Abuja as a security emergency.

In a statement on Sunday, Josephine Adeh, FCT police spokesperson, said the suspects were members of a ‘one-chance’ armed robbery syndicate.
