A fire swept through the Muna Alamdari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and the destruction of over 1,000 houses.
The fire started around 6 a.m. and took over an hour to be brought under control by fire service personnel, with assistance from IDPs, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and security agencies.
The State Emergency Management Agency has initiated an assessment of the damages and is providing immediate humanitarian support to the victims, including 500 bags of rice, blankets, and other non-food items.
